The first place we stopped was Sikandra, also known as Akbar's tomb. As I described in the
blog, Akbar was one of the Mughal rulers of India. His grandson would eventually build the Taj Mahal. Akbar was
known for his religious tolerance and though he was Muslim, he had a Hindu wife. The designs around his tomb show
both floral and geometric patterns. The floral patterns are typical of a Hindu design. The geometric patterns are
typical of an Islamic design.
The first picture shows the main gate to the compound. In the center of the compound is the building that
houses his actual tomb.
