We would love to hear about what you're reading!

We put up a set of web pages for people to recommend books and comment on the books that other people recommended.

murakami

One of our favorite authors is Haruki Murakami.  Back in about 1995, Agnes and I were in Wordsworth bookstore in Harvard Square and Agnes showed me a book called A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami.  She had read a number of short stories from Murakami in The New Yorker magazine, and thought that this novel might be good.

We really enjoyed that book, and since then we've read every book that Murakami has published.

One very early book of his, called "Pinball, 1973", is out of print and he has allowed it to be put in the public domain on a fan's website.  We've included a copy here, with the understanding that the story can be freely posted.  If this is not the case, please contact me as soon as possible.

It's an early work, and Murakami was still finding his writing voice, but it's still enjoyable.

albert

Albert has written some short stories.

"Ramen" was written way back in 1995.

We also have a more recent story called "Coffee Beans".

"Conversations" was written in October, 2002.  We had a hard time deciding what picture to use with the story.  We didn't want the person in the picture to have any specific identity other than that of the character in the story, so that's why we've obscured who it is.

We posted "Wedding Days" in March 2003.

"Diaphany" is not a new story (it was written in 1997), but we thought we would post it.

Albert gave us this story to post quite some time ago, but we're just now getting to it. It's called "Dear Sarah".

Sean recently published the first issue of his own comic book, Runners.  You can see a couple of preview pages on his web site www.seanwang.com, along with some of his game art, photos, etc.
