At the kids' montessori school, there are a number of activities you can pull down from the shelves. Each child sets up a rug to work on, and does the activity on that rug. It defines the space where they're working, and allows them to set some boundaries. After you're done, you have to put everything away, including rolling up the rug again. Eleanor particularly likes the routine and she'll often try to roll up Miranda's rug.
