Snails

Bernard @ August 24, 2009, 6:30 pm -- [Eleanor and Miranda are 4 year & 22 days old]

For a time, Eleanor’s favorite book was about snails. It described the life cycle of a snail from egg to adult. She asked me to help her draw a snail, and after giving her an example, she started drawing them all over.

In this picture, the snail is about to eat its egg shell (that blob to the side), as the snail book described. Eleanor also added a picture of a lady bug with the description “Love Bug”, which was on Miranda’s shirt. Then, she wrote “The End” because she was done with the picture.

I’m missing the kids’ school camp out. Agnes is there right now with the girls, making s’mores.

Out of the trail mix included in her lunch, Eleanor ate the chocolate chips, peanuts, almonds, and cashews. All that was left was a small bunch of dried cranberries.

Words of wisdom to Miranda: when you’re walking down stairs, you have to look at the stairs.

Strange Verbs

Bernard @ August 15, 2009, 10:21 am -- [Eleanor and Miranda are 4 year & 13 days old]

This morning, Eleanor and Miranda both hit me with strange sentences. I was making cheese toast for Eleanor (spread some butter on bread, sprinkle Parmesan cheese, toast it) and when Eleanor was done putting on the cheese, she said “I want to stay it.” She had to repeat it multiple times before I could figure out what she was saying. She didn’t want me to do anything else to the bread. When I finally figured out what she was saying, I told her we needed to toast her bread because the bread was frozen.

Later, I was cooking some scrambled eggs for Miranda. She was watching TV. When I was putting it on the plate, Miranda came running up and said something I couldn’t understand. I eventually figured out she said, “I want to stove it.”

What’s changed that they’re using these words in such strange ways?

Evening Entertainment

I thought it was nice that Miranda wanted to do a jigsaw puzzle with me instead of going upstairs to play noggin/nickjr games on the computer.

Bunny Dance

Bernard @ August 9, 2009, 2:47 pm -- [Eleanor and Miranda are 4 year & 7 days old]

One day, the girls came home from school and wanted to show us a dance they learned.

[If you can’t see the Flash player above, you can download the video in MP4 format appropriate for an iPod: MP4 (5.3MB).]

I missed the first line and a half, but here are the lyrics:

I’m a little bunny.
My tail is soft and white.
Children love to cuddle me,
Especially at night.
My ears are pretty pink.
My eyes are baby blue.
Now my dancing feet
Will do a bunny dance for you.
Mm Hm.
Hop one, two, three, four.
Side, side. One, two, three, four.
4x (Jump out, jump in, jump out, jump in
Boogie, boogie, boogieboogieboogie.)
Do you like my bunny dance?
I thank you. I do!
